24th April 2010 6 Pointed Hexagon Stack'n Wack, with Ms. Gerry Dempsay Focus fabrics: 9" to 16" repeat buy 3 yds 6 Repeats: 18" to 22" repeat buy 4 yds 22" to 24 repeat buy 4.5 yds If your fabric has 7" to 8" repeats you will need 12 repeats instead of six. Three yds should have 13 repeats. Check for your repeats on the (outer) selvage edge, not in middle of fabric. You can cut or snip and tear your focus fabric lengthwise down the middle, then iron, before coming to class. You will work with only half the total fabric at a time. If you need the other half, you will have it for extra blocks. If not, you can use it for borders. Do not cut across the width of fabric. You will need 3 yds of coordinating or contrasting color fabric for sashing or corners, depending on how you decide to finish your project. I recommend not buying this fabric until you have your blocks made so you can choose the color that looks best with your blocks. Blocks change considerably from original fabric, and you can see your dominate color better. You can bring a small amount, half yard, of any solid fabric to class to make your sample block corners. Flat head pins Scissors Sewing machine Thread Machine needles Rotary cutter & Mat 6"x12" ruler with 60 degree lines, 60 degree equilateral triangle or 60 degree diamond template (Joanns Fabrics). Be careful they say 60 degrees, as there are others that are similar, but not the same. 24" Long ruler if you have one, for making your cross cuts. Otherwise we will have to share, and it may take you more time.
